X-Men: First Class

I love the X-Men movies!  I was a bit disappointed with the first prequel they did to the X-Men Trilogy, based on Wolverine's story, but I was excited to see the newest prequel in the franchise, "X-Men: First Class."

I actually like prequels... it's fun to learn the background stories of characters you already know, especially those who become villains.  For me, learning the story of how Magneto came to be was poignant.  Also, learning the relationship between Magneto and Professor X (and Mystique) was intriguing to me.  I really enjoyed seeing all of the new characters, and there were definitely worthwhile action scenes to see.

My favorite part?   James McAvoy as Professor X.  I don't know why, I've just always had a little crush on the guy.  I remember catching a glimpse of him in Band of Brothers, then saw him in The Last King of Scotland, and fell for him in Becoming Jane and Atonement.  He's a great actor, and I really liked seeing him on screen again.

Anyways, I know that as a "review" this blog entry is a bit bland (I don't like to spoil movies!!!), but the bottom line is, if you like the X-Men franchise, I think you'll like this movie!  I really wasn't disappointed whatsoever, and I can't wait to see it again on DVD in the future.
