Gleek Peek: Season 3 Premiere!!!

credit
GLEE IS BACK!

I am happy to report the gang is back and I'm liking the storyline that's happening!  (SPOILER ALERT)

There were some departures.  Chord Overstreet who played Sam is gone, Zizes' character quits the club, AND Quinn has come back as an unrecognizable punk 'skank' who quit Glee and the Cheerios.

I did find some moments of the show to be slow, though I did appreciate the first twenty minutes being free of songs so they could set the story up.  It was also full of one-liners from Brittany (Best one ever: "I have pepperoni in my bra." To which Santana responds, "Those are your nipples.")

Mr. Schue and Emma are together, Mercedes has a new boyfriend, Santana gets the boot from Glee for becoming Sue's minion, Blaine is now at McKinley (blah), Schue refuses the first-ever audition for Glee, and Sue is gunning for a political seat to eliminate the arts.  We're also reminded that a bunch of the cast are seniors, so we're anticipating their graduation at the end of the season.

One of the most important parts, in my opinion, was Kurt/Rachel realizing that they may be big fish in a little pond.  They meet up with a bunch of kids who want to go to New York like they do, thinking they will dominate them like the Glee Club.  Instead, they are met with a group of people who are just like them, with a TON of talent.  I think it was important for them to realize they needed to step up their game and can't continue to be as arrogant. (Sidenote: We saw Lindsay from The Glee Project lead and she killed it!)

I wasn't too into the first couple of songs, but I really felt like the final number was a return to the old Glee.  Without getting into the nitty-gritty, I was really happy with the latest episode, and I think it bodes well for the rest of the season.  It's not as strong as the first season, but it's better than some of what we saw last season!

Songs I'll download later: "Anything Goes/Anything You Can Do" mashup, "You Can't Stop the Beat"
