Lockeland Table

I've been keeping a list of restaurants to visit on my wishlist, and Dan and I have been making an effort to try them when we can.  One of these is Lockeland Table, located in East Nashville.  I kept seeing it pop up in local news, even national magazines, because it's known for unpretentious and delicious Southern-inspired food.  We arrived on a Friday night with no reservation, but we were on the early side and able to find street parking.

If you want to eat at Lockeland Table, I recommend a reservation.  They were completely booked for the evening until 9:30pm when we arrived, but we were able to wait for two spots at the bar to eat.  We're glad we waited; the bar is beautiful and wide enough for comfortable dining.  The bartender taking care of us was fantastic, and the people sitting around us were warm and nice.  Overall, it felt like an upscale spot for locals to grab a bite.  East Nashville is such a unique neighborhood!

Drinks were definitely in order, because their menu looked awesome.  Their sparkling grapefruit cocktail was my favorite drink that night.  Super refreshing and delicious, with my favorite cocktail flavors.

For my main course, I had the local spaghetti and meatballs.  It was a cold day, and it felt nice to tuck into some comfort food.  If a place can execute a great spaghetti and meatballs, you know they can handle just about anything!  The meal was tasty, and the bread was a perfect complement.  The pasta tasted fresh (I believe it is made locally) and I loved it!  No leftovers to take home, it was yum.

Dan had a delicious special for the night, a ribeye with one of the tastiest balsamic glazes I've had in ages.  Delicious, delicious steak!  I don't know what else to say about it other than it needs to be on the menu all the time.  Fries were on point too.

After a few drinks, I get booze munchies...  and dessert sounded like the perfect end to a delicious date night.  We picked the Olive & Sinclair chocolate chip skillet with vanilla gelato, the perfect dessert for two people!  The skillet was sizzling and hot, and the cookie was perfect too.  Undercooked and warm chocolate cookies are my favorite, and we scraped the skillet clean.

There are so many restaurants in Nashville that we need to try, but Lockeland Table is good enough to make me want to come back again!

Lockeland Table is coming out with a cookbook soon, so keep an eye out for that too!  This place is perfect for a night out.
