Sunday Best: On Vacation

Dresses are one of my favorites for traveling.  Period.  So on our vacation to Germany, I packed a number of them as easy outfits.  Pants + tops take up so much more suitcase space!  Today's dress is brought to you by Old Navy past clearance sales.

Dress: Old Navy (similar, similar strappy, similar strapless)
Belt and Sunnies: Charlotte Russe & H&M
Shoes:  Gladiator Sandals or Running Shoes
Purse:  Longchamp (ancient circa 2005)

Notice my running shoes mucking up my style on the hike to Neuschwanstein...
Okay, so my belt isn't staying where it should be, but you get the idea.  I was very comfortable, and I had a cardigan in my Longchamp bag for when the temps shifted based on altitude and whatnot.  While the rest of my family wore shorts/pants, I felt very happy in my casual dresses, and I think it's great for photos!

I've also observed that most women in Europe, while they wear the shortest mini skirts, do NOT wear shorts.  It is the quickest way to call yourself out as a tourist; that's another reason I like dresses.  What do you wear when you travel?

Here's a little snapshot of the other frocks I wore while in Germany...

P.S.  This is possible TMI, but for my fellow curvy girls in dresses, I also pack a little tube of chafing-relief powder gel when I travel and know I'll be walking a lot.  A pea-sized amount goes a long way.  I actually used this as a makeup primer (yes, on my face!) for years, as it is the same ingredients as Smashbox primers but way cheaper.  This stuff is the bomb, so I had to share it here.

  2. It totally works! I used it as a primer for years until I switched to a foundation that has primer built in. I still use it in a pinch when traveling.

First of all great Vacation Photos. Secondly, I am in love with your Beautiful, Dainty little White Dress. So cute and girly. Great styling you did.

  5. i love that dress (obviously, i totally own it! ;) and I feel so casual and comfy when wearing it that i get all surprised when people say how nice I look "dressed up" haha. i think there is something intimidating/impressive to people about ladies who just casually wear white clothing! i've been drawn more and more to whites and creams in my wardrobe and people think i'm so fashionable and always say "i could never wear white!"

anyway, it's super cute on you and i am loving all of those snapshots! that maxi is gorgeous and those mountains are so lovely! i'm glad your trip was a blast :)

  6. Thanks for the beauty tip! SO helpful! And I think you look great and totally non-touristy. I took German for 5.5 years and these pictures are making me ache for a place I've never even been! I so have the travel bug but not the travel budget. :( And thanks for the sweet words in talking with Ada :)

  7. It's our twinsies dress!!! I always think of you when I wear it. I have quite a bit of white in my wardrobe, including multiple white dresses. I feel like white is the new black in my wardrobe, as it always looks so put-together. I also wear white when I'm working a conference for DAR as pages wear that as a designated color. My white ensembles do double duty!

P.S. The maxi is from Old Navy too.

  8. Marissa, I wish I spoke German! Definitely come back over the next week or two to see more of my Bavarian adventure for ideas. I actually think the trip as we did it is very affordable, minus airfare, and I have some definite money-saving tips for you if you ever want them!
