Disney World: Epcot

Of all the parks this trip, I spent the most time at Epcot.  Epcot is definitely one of my favorite places at Disney (specifically the World Showcase) so I was excited to bring first-timer-to-Disney Dan.
Both of us really enjoyed the World Showcase the best.  We snacked, Dan sampled beer from all over, and we had a great time.  Dan loved Norway, and I liked the store in Japan.

We had lunch in Germany at their Sommerfest quick service restaurant.  I really liked the currywurst.  Yum!  We also had a strawberry crepe in France, which was delicious.

One thing that makes me sad is the lack of characters walking around the park.  When I was younger, you bumped into people all the time... but I understand the need for crowd control, especially since people are crazy with iPhone photos now.  You have to line up forever to see a lot of the princesses.  Thankfully, at Epcot, they have Disney's Character Spot, and we were in a pretty short line to get pics with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.  We also did the The Seas with Nemo and Friends ride, which is less educational than I remember before the rebranding.  It's very character-oriented.

The only downside?  You guys, our dinner sucked.  I spent like $100 for two people to eat at La Hacienda de San Angel.  I wish we'd just grabbed food from stands.  The queso was so overcooked it was solid, and the two-person grill we shared was mostly fillers like rice and corn.  The service was fantastic, and I can't say enough good things about the people.  But we were completely underwhelmed and didn't enjoy it.  Womp womp.  Especially since we get such good Mexican food for a steal back home.

Later in the week, Epcot cemented myself as a new favorite after I went drinking "around the world" with Lindsey and my friends from work.  We made it around in time to go on the Soarin' ride completely toasted.  While this sounds very silly, that ride was INCREDIBLE when you're tipsy.  We finished the night in Downtown Disney, but that trip around Epcot will surely be one of my most memorable for years to come.

Wanted to share a group photo, and figured this shot gives you an idea of our fun without
clearly identifying my work buddies on the blog.  :)

  1. That japan store in Epcot is my guilty pleasure! Last time I went was with one of your college friends (from AK!). Figured I'd finally say "hi" after following your blog for the last 85358964 years!

  2. Thanks for the comment! It's my favorite... And if it's a college friend from Alaska, I have an idea of who it is!

  3. YESSSSSSS! Soarin' under the influence is the BEST! It also makes Test Track that much better. Epcot is hands down my favorite park.

Yeah... that Mexican restaurant gets a rash of good reviews and then bad and it switches back and forth. It's a shame. What is delicious is the pizza place, Via Napoli, in the Italy pavillion. Just delicious.
