Stitch Fix: 15th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

I'm back with another Stitch Fix recap!  And yes, it's September and I got this fix in June.  My bad, but I took a little blogging hiatus and never posted... but that's alright, because I know people love these regardless.

I always look forward to Stitch Fix boxes; my stylist really knows me at this point.  So it didn't surprise me when I loved everything in this box at first glance!  All of it was stuff I'd try on for myself in a store.

41Hawthorn Maybel Jersey Faux Wrap Dress

I was so pumped when I saw this dress!  I loved the black accents on it.  But once I got it on, the dress didn't have the movement or fabric in the skirt that I usually prefer, and the print wasn't my favorite once I had it on.  If the skirt had more volume, and the print was different, I'd have kept it.  RETURNED.

Luq Julliet Knit Top

I loved the softness of this top!  I didn't put it off-the-shoulder in this photo because I would have had to remove a plastic strap, but I plan to wear it both ways.  It's perfect for summer and I can put it on my shoulders in the office too.  The sleeves were too pretty.  KEPT.  (I still wear this one, but with a cami underneath because I wish the length was longer.  Also, it didn't wash well so it looks a bit worn, but again, I wear it still.)

Daniel Rainn Malaika Henley Blouse

I really loved the print on this shirt, but cap sleeves are the devil  I would have worn this under cardigans or jackets if it were truly sleeveless, but the cap sleeves had to go.  Loved the print!  RETURNED.

Papermoon Marisol Mixed Material Knit Top

Loved this shirt, and I wanted to keep it, but I realized that I don't wear navy much because almost all of my pants are jeans or black.  So I knew this wouldn't get a ton of wear, even though I loved both the fit and the mixed material.  RETURNED.

Liverpool Kolten Cropped Denim Jacket

Finally, I have my blue denim jacket!  I was a little uncertain about this one, because I wanted a jacket with silver or brass colored hardware, and this one has black hardware.  But this is just like the white denim jacket that I have, with great elastic stretch to it.  I knew that this was a keeper, and that the denim jacket hole in my closet was finally filled.  Great layering piece!  KEPT.  (This has proved to be a great travel jacket!)

Overall, I loved this fix.  It's clear that my stylist knows my preferences, and I seriously considered everything in the box.  Yay!  It's not cheap, but the delight of getting to try everything on and the convenience of having it come straight to me is worth it.  That's why I've now had fifteen Fixes since March 2015!

Stitch Fix: 14th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

Even though I only kept one items from my last Fix, I enjoyed it so much that I moved my next box up to March!  This box was a tough one, because there was one item I didn't love, and at least one that I liked but was on the fence about keeping.  Here's how it played out.

Skies Are Blue Verne Tie Sleeve Top
First, my stylist hit me with my favorite color, mustard yellow, with the Skies Are Blue Verne Tie Sleeve Top.  The picture isn't fantastic, but I really liked the "peasant" look of it for an easy weekend shirt.  I could wear it for work too.  I liked this one a lot, not love, but strong like.

I had another "strong like" moment with the Pixley Lagio Mixed Material Top.  I thought the floral was a little abstract, but I realized it would be great under a lot of my cardigans and jackets.  I also loved the comfortable back panel, super soft!  It was a maybe for me...

The photo isn't the most flattering, but I needed a true red blazer and this Kensie Rebekah Mini Checkered Crepe jacket fit the bill.  Patriotic colors always work for me, considering all of the DAR and Veterans events that I attend.  Plus, perfect for office attire too!  I pegged this as a keeper early on.

The only item I didn't love in this Fix was this French Grey Rosanna Neck Tie Detail dress. It was too short for my preference, and very plain.  I decided I would only keep it if I kept the whole box.  Meh.

I was on the fence about collarless jackets.  But this color, again, patriotic and on trend, and I loved the feel and fit.  41Hawthorn Dorie Stretch Collarless Blazer, for the win.

This is the point where you might be guessing that I kept the whole box.  Yep.  Basically, the entire box was $352, but if I kept the entire box, it came to $264.  I wanted to keep 4 of the 5 items, so keeping the whole box made sense, because it would "cost" me money to return a single item.  Even though I really liked the tops versus love, I know they'll be worn.  If not, I'll resell them on Poshmark.

I don't plan on having another fix until June, so if I buy more for my closet, I'll be shopping for myself!

Stitch Fix: 13th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

So I was really tired when I was trying to take screenshots of all my Stitch Fix items while I was in checkout in the app (and possibly tipsy) so I didn't get screenshots of all the items in a pretty way.  Sorry!  But I did take photos of the styling card that hopefully will suffice.

I asked for jackets in my Fix, and my stylist totally delivered.  THREE!  And I loved or liked them all.  But did I keep them?

The Bande Knit Blazer was comfy, but when I buttoned it I didn't like how it fell in the back.  I decided I'd keep it if I kept the whole box, but (spoiler alert) I did not.  I wasn't sure about horizontal striping doing me any favors either.  RETURNED.

I loves the Karlstad Textured Moto Jacket.  It was soft comfortable, and cool.  It looked good both zipped and unzipped, even though I only showed unzipped photos.  Dan even liked how it looked.  But I wasn't sure how often I'd wear it, and with which other items in my closet given the pattern.  I wanted to keep it very much... but I have a white denim jacket that I pretty much wear rarely and didn't want to risk another piece I don't use much.RETURNED.

I loved everything about the Shelle Stretch Moto Jacket.  So soft and comfy, both zipped and unzipped.  I've worn it multiple times already, way more than an olive Army-style jacket I used to have from J. Crew.  Perfect.  KEPT.

Sigh.  This Strut & Bolt top was a fit fail on me.  It was like a tent, and too short for my torso.  Meh.  RETURNED.

This Blu Pepper top was definitely my style, but the fabric was too sheer. I loved the details, softness, and open back.  If it had been opaque, I would have been tempted to keep it!  RETURNED.

In the end, I wanted to keep all the jackets, but I didn't like the blouses enough to keep the whole Fix.  The white jacket was almost kept, but in the end on the frugal side of things I decided to only keep one jacket.  Womp womp.  But the good news is, I've already worn the olive moto jacket multiple times!  Winner winner.  I also moved up my next fix to early March, because I haven't been shopping online that much and like the convenience of the stylist.

Stitch Fix Review: 12th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

I started receiving Stitch Fix boxes back in March 2015, and I can't believe I'm already on my 12th Fix recap!  Looking back at my previous fixes, I realize that I still love getting these boxes, when I have the budget for them.  It's so nice to have someone curating clothing items for me, vs. going to the store.  To be honest, with the weight I've gained over the past year or so, shopping in-store has had me disappointed in terms of selection.  Online shopping has always provided more size options in each style.  That said, it sucks to comb multiple sites to find a bunch of pieces that I need.  Stitch Fix doesn't require me to work for it, which it probably why I'm still loyal.

I've had success when I add items to my Pinterest board that I provide my stylist, and when I keep my size profile updated.  I had a couple of frustrating fixes, and I realized that it was because my sizes were not current.  Unless Stitch Fix is playing with me by using the same stylist's name over and over, I believe I've been working with the same girl for nearly two years now.  The longer I've used the service, the more I feel like she "gets" my preferences and what I like.  This box was definitely evidence of that, because (spoiler alert) I loved it.

Le Lis Kano Textured Knit Dress

I really loved this Le Lis dress.  You can't see it well in the image, but it has a beautiful texture.  I loved that it easily pulled on over my head (no zipper struggles!), and the fabric felt luxe.  It's going to be the perfect work dress for travel, since I don't need help zipping.  I wore it to my cousin's baby shower, and the fit & flare silhouette was flattering for sure.  Price felt steep, but it was a beautiful dress.  KEPT.

41Hawthorn Henderson Tie Neck Blouse

I love bow-tie blouses, and I love mustard yellow.  So this top, while not 100% the most flattering cut all-around, still looked freaking adorable.  I tied the bow in my selfie, but I wear it like the actual Stitch Fix picture instead.  I was probably a little on the fence about this one, especially for the price, but (another spoiler) it was worth keeping given the discount I could get for the whole box.  KEPT.

Pixley Jacobsen Textured Knit Dress

I loved this dress.  I actually think I will wear it a lot in the spring, given it was a lighter fabric vs. a heavy ponte knit.  Love the pattern, and the black and white!  It was a flattering fit, too.  I would have kept this one no matter what, given the price.  KEPT.

Skies are Blue Bathilda Cutout Detail Blouse

This blouse was probably my least favorite item in the box.  It looks cute, and the cut-outs and color are neat, but the fit/feel wasn't the best of the bunch.  When I did end up wearing it, I got quite a few compliments.  I think that the color is my style, and the blouse was a good one to keep after all.  KEPT.

Tart Kearsley Knit Blazer

I live in comfy blazers.  Ponte knits are my fav.  My stylist warned me that this piece was as splurge.  When I look online, Tart knit blazers run $120-160.  Once I put the blazer on, I didn't want to take it off.  It's comfy enough to sleep in, but looks office-appropriate.  In fact, I wore it with black pants on election day to represent #PantsuitNation.  (Bittersweet, to be sure.)  The only downside to this piece is that it is Dry Clean only, but I recently found a good cleaner on my commute that makes it easy.  After all, you gotta protect investment pieces!  I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out on Nordstrom Rack to see if any of these blazers make it there on sale, because I can't afford to buy these in every fix!  KEPT.

The total price for all five items was $386, but that was reduced by 25% since I kept all of the items.  With tax, styling fee, and everything else, I paid $296.28 total, which averages to about $59 per item.  That's not cheap.  But given the quality of the items (think Nordstrom, not H&M) and the convenience factor, I felt like it was worth the expense.  I find myself reaching for my favorite Stitch Fix items over and over, especially comfy blazers and layering pieces.  This is only my 5th Fix of 2016, so you can see how I've switched my scheduling around based on budget.  :)  Thanks for stopping by for this recap!

Stitch Fix Review: 11th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

Now that I have a Stitch Fix every quarter, you don't get these updates as often...  but this was a fun Fix for sure!  I was caught off guard that a Fix was coming, so I hadn't been updating my Pinterest board a lot.  But my stylist still knows my style, so I was happy with how she styled.  :)

The statement necklace that Stitch Fix sent me, the Bay to Baubles Kimberly Crystal Bauble Collar Necklace (say that ten times fast) was pretty, but I had some trouble with a sticky clasp.  I also have been wearing more delicate necklaces lately, so it didn't feel like a keeper this go-round.  Returned.

I was really torn about this Kut from the Kloth Sinclaire Button Front Blouse.  I really loved the colors and print, but for a see-through, polyester blouse, I just couldn't justify the cost.  If I had loved everything else in the Fix, I would have kept it though.  Returned.

I wanted to love the Brixon Ivy Levi Ponte Dress.  The stripes!  The pleats!  It is SO my style, and in a fabric that I really love.  It even had pockets, match made in heaven!   But when I put it on, the straps and pleats fell at awkward positions.  Great in theory, not great on me.  Boooooo.     I wanted this dress so badly.  Returned, with sadness.

Spoiler alert, I only kept one item in this Fix, the Market & Spruce Evella Boatneck Top.  I really love how it looks like a chambray top layered with the shirt.  It's like cheating.  I had to have it, because it's super versatile.  Basic, but wonderful!

I've had my eye on the romper trend, so I was excited to see the Tonette V-neck Romper in my Fix.  Unfortunately, the zipper was a bit too short for what I needed.  I could have put it on with a struggle, but I don't want to keep anything that is a struggle!

Tonette V-neck Romper

Overall, even though I only kept one item, I still enjoyed this Fix.  It pushed me to think about prints and things I don't normally wear.  I think I'll continue these quarterly, moving one up earlier if I need the help getting some new things in my closet!

Stitch Fix Review: 10th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

Hey guys, I goofed up and didn't keep my price list, so I'm not sure how much all of my items were this round!  (Minus what I kept, that is.)  So these images won't have the price info that I usually include in my descriptions.

Adelyn Rae Carolyne Jumpsuit

I'd asked my stylist for a jumpsuit, so I got one!  I loved the color and the style of the Carolyne Jumpsuit, but it was tight around my thighs, and I wasn't sure I could zip it and then sit down.  So I didn't keep this one.  If it had been looser, I would have wanted to for sure!

Gilli Juri Maxi Dress

While the open back on this dress scared me at first (I'm an old, curvy dame... it did not compute!), once I had it on I wanted to keep it!  The material was great, and the cut where the black met the stripes gave me a narrower waist, so I liked it a lot!

Market & Spruce Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt

I liked this maxi skirt from Market & Spruce, but I remember feeling like the price was too steep.  It was comfy, but I could get a Lularoe maxi skirt for less that I'd probably wear more.

41Hawthorn Moni Studded Short Sleeve Blouse

I almost kept this top.  I loved the print and the studded detail.  That said, I didn't like the cut of the bottom of the shirt, because it accentuated my stomach, which I'm not trying to show off!  I was torn on this one, so it landed in the "maybe" category until I knew I was returning other items.

Brixon Ivy Cameline Pleat Panel Blouse

I really liked the floral print on this, and the pleating detail, but the sleeves felt tight because they were borderline (cringe) cap sleeves.  Cap sleeves are the devil, and they should fall off the face of the earth.  So I didn't keep this one, because it wasn't love.

Overall Review

Since I had a $25 referral credit, the final price on the one piece I kept, the maxi dress, was $53.  And I'm wearing this as I type this blog post, so I know it was worth it!  Super comfy, the perfect weekend dress!  I'm not upset that most of the items in this Fix didn't work out, because I asked my stylist to push some items my way that weren't in my usual repertoire.  I found one thing I loved, so it was still a win.  My next Fix is scheduled for August, unless I pull it forward for some reason.  Stay tuned!

Stitch Fix Review: 9th Fix

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

I'm back with another Stitch Fix to review!  I wasn't sure what to expect in my Stitch Fix, because I kind of forgot about it (despite leaving a note for my stylist) since my last one was in February.  I did make a little chart for my stylist on my Pinterest board of what cardigans and colors I had in my closet, and she used it!  I also pin these blog post recaps for her to see, which I think helps her evaluate fit and style too.

I'd requested more tie-neck blouses, because I love how they look under blazers and cardigans... so they sent me two!  Woohoo!

The red blouse was made of a great material that I love, perfect for summer.  (I can already tell that the fabrics are getting lighter for spring!)  I wish it was a little longer in torso length, but I knew it was a keeper from the get-go.  The blue blouse (named for a Game of Thrones character!) wasn't my favorite cut, but under a cardigan I love it.  The print is great to match with multiple blouses.  This was probably my least favorite of the box, actually, just because of the cut making my upper arms look bigger.

My stylist also sent me a knit blazer, which I LOVED!  I wear knit blazers all the time for work, and this one is good for work or weekend.  I think it will be a great piece for summer.  I was worried the stripes would make me look wider, but then I stopped caring because it was a great piece.  I wore it the day after I got my box.

I also asked my stylist for wrap dresses, because you can't go wrong with them.  I got one sleeveless, and one long-sleeve.  Again, great pieces for work that I loved, in great prints!

I think that wrap dresses are officially my other office uniform now.  I have a bunch just from this year's shopping alone, but I really think they are timeless.  And honestly I do think I wear these more than I would if I bought one DVF dress; I feel like I can mix it up more and not repeat.  I now have a TON of dresses and the warmer weather is inspiring me to wear them more for sure.

So if you add up all of these pieces, the total comes to $322.  But, since I kept all five pieces, I got 25% off AND redeemed a $25 credit.  My total for all of it came to $237 with tax. which for better or worse comes to about $47 per item.  Overall, I'm happy with that for everything that I got.

In fact, because I haven't been as into shopping lately, I asked for my next fix to come in a month to tide me over.  We'll see how that one goes!  I probably need to do a closet inventory to see what I should get rid of, but we shall see whether I have time to get to that anytime soon.

Stitch Fix Review: 8th Fix

I'm back with my latest Stitch Fix recap!

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

This fix, I asked my stylist for tops to wear with my blazers and cardigans, since that is my work "uniform" and I have a zillion dresses.  My stylist focused on printed tops to go under the solid top layers I mentioned, so they could really pop.  She also included a dress and a cardigan.  Sydney, my stylist, reads my blog recaps and uses my Pinterest board to make decisions for me, and I've noticed that over time she's really good at picking items that I would certainly consider and try on, as well as a lot that I want to keep!

Here is what I received in my Fix:

While I was initially hesitant to love a dress that appeared to be named after Edward and Bella's vampire hybrid baby from the Twilight series (that name!  ugh!) I know that wrap dresses, even faux wrap dresses, are incredibly flattering for just about any woman.  My boss has a DVF wrap dress that I've swooned over a few times, and this one made me swoon too.  The material is great, the color and pattern are perfect for both office and date night, and it hugged my curves in the right ways!  I couldn't help but keep it, even though I probably need to go through a dress purge in my closet.  And I think that if they keep sending me this dress in future Fixes, I'll keep it every time too, #likeaboss.

I liked the print on this top, and fabric was super soft and comfortable.  But for some reason (you can't tell in the photo) the neckline really plunged on me, and it didn't quite match some of the existing cardigans/blazers that I have as I'd like.  I decided that this top was a "maybe" if I liked everything else in the fix, something I would definitely end up wearing if it was in the closet, but not a new favorite.  Since I ended up sending items back, this went back too.

The bow detail on this cardigan's sleeve had me swooning, and my stylist has learned that I love crew-neck cardigans vs. v-necks!  But I have a cardigan from J. Crew Factory almost exactly the same color, so I couldn't justify keeping it.  It is perfect for me, I just have a duplicate.

While I loved the dots and laser cut details on this blouse, the fabric didn't have a lot of give (I test tops by moving my arms around like I'm swimming LOL) and I don't wear a lot of navy tops...  I think that's because I wear jeans often, and navy over jeans sometimes feels monotonous.  This was probably my least favorite top, but if the colors had been different I would have been tempted to keep it.

The tie neck blouse jumped out to me before I even before I tried it on.  I just love how these blouses look both with a suit or over jeans with a cardigan!  I would like to have more blouses like these, because to me a tie-neck blouse is kind of the equivalent of a shirt with tie for guys.  Some people call them secretary shirts, but I like the vintage throwback.

Overall Review:
I think that if the cardigan had been a color I don't have, I would have been very tempted to keep this entire fix, because the discounted cost of those pieces would have only cost me about $60.  That said, since I don't need two cobalt-colored sweaters, it prompted me to send back two of the tops I didn't absolutely love, and reassured me that I kept what really needed to stay.  While the top and dress are more expensive than I would pay normally at the mall, I felt like they were perfect for me and my lifestyle and chose to keep them.  I like the quality of Stitch Fix pieces, as they are more Nordstrom than Forever 21, you know?  (The cheap F21 tops I bought recently for layering all have little snags after just one day... you get what you pay for, I'm learning.)

I've realized that I do like to receive my Stitch Fix, even though the prices are more high-end.  Over time, my stylist has gotten to know my style pretty well, and it pushes me to try something that I normally wouldn't.  While I have let go of some of the pieces I've gotten in my Fixes, especially since women in my office have gotten multiple duplicates of items I've received, it's kind of fun to see what comes next.  I've rescheduled my Fix frequency to every three months.

Stitch Fix Review: 7th Fix

I'm back with my latest Stitch Fix recap!

Disclosure:  I paid for my own Stitch Fix; all opinions are my own.  If you're interested in trying Stitch Fix, I'd love for you to use my referral link so I can get $25 towards my next Fix!

This month, I asked for some more "mixed media" tops, as well as warm layers as the weather cools off.  I had some luck last month shopping on my own for these kinds of pieces, so by the time my Fix came I knew I'd be less likely to keep the whole box.

This is the top that I kept, because it felt like a comfy sweatshirt but had some visual interested in the back.  It's so soft, and I do gravitate towards the color black.  I guess I'd describe it as a really great weekend sweatshirt that would appropriate to wear out without looking like you're in pajamas.  And that is the definition of how I wish I could dress every day!

The Abrianna cardigan was comfy, soft, and fit well, but for $48 I couldn't justify the purchase.  It was plain and navy in color, and I felt like I could get almost the exact same cardigan for a better price elsewhere.

This Deborah thermal cardigan is the one piece I sent back that I'm still thinking about.  It felt like a warm hug, and the hoodie was a neat surprise!  That said, it didn't feel office-appropriate, and I have enough loungewear for casual days at home.  But it seriously was the comfiest thing ever, and I lamented not having a spot for it in my wardrobe.

I wanted to love the Willson cowl neck top.  In the photos, I liked it a lot.  But the material was actually pretty thin, and the cowl not as substantial as I'd like.  I like a serious cowl that feels like an infinity scarf!  I actually would have preferred this top to be more fitted too, as I think it would have made it more flattering.  But as you can see in the photos, it did me no favors.

This Dover top was super cute!  I loved the cobalt color on the back.  But since I had already purchased a similar style top, and this one fit a bit tightly in the shoulders, I sent it back mostly on account of fit.

I had a $25 credit to spend, so in the end my $58 top was only $33 in the end.  Win!

Overall, I continue to have fun with Stitch Fix.  I would have picked up all of these items to try on in a store, even though some of them were above the price I would have preferred to pay.  I'm not sure if I'll continue it forever, but every other month continues to be a good cadence.
