Sunday Best: Workout Wear

I didn't have a moment to take a 'real' outfit photo this week, since I was at school in Indiana for my MBA residency.  But when I went for a bike ride with my parents yesterday, we snapped a photo that I realized could showcase one of my workout outfits.

Over the past couple of years, I have gotten rid of a lot of my hodgepodge old workout clothes and pajamas and replaced them with mix 'n' match separate and matching sets.  There's just something about cute workout gear and matching PJs that makes me incredibly happy.  This outfit is from Fabletics, which I have reviewed on this blog before.

My outfit took me from shopping at Target, to breakfast with a friend, to bike riding with my parents for 5 miles on a local trail.  I don't usually run errands in workout clothes, but this running skirt and top combo didn't feel too out of place as I was all over town.  Plus, it was nice and functional for the bike ride.
I think what I've learned from this week's edition of Sunday Best is that you can feel good about how you look even when you're working out!  I definitely felt comfortable yesterday.  And we were even able to take a group selfie:

@Fabletics - Outfit Review v.5

Note:  After five months of Fabletics, I still love it.  I won't be doing a review post every month, but I am very happy with the service and don't see an end in sight yet for it!  You'll see my pieces in my Budgeting Bloggers post.
I had one last credit lingering on Fabletics, so I was able to order the "Cheeky" outfit for just $10 total.  I loved my previous running skirt, so I went for another one.  The outfit also included the first bra I tried from Fabletics.

Overall, this tank top is one of my new favorites!  It doesn't even look like a workout top, the cut is so nice.  The skirt, same as my other one but in another pattern, is a winner too.  They go well together and as separates, which is what I am going for these days in workout clothes.
The bra was not to my liking; I prefer a seamless band like the ones I get from Target.  I sent it back because the fit wasn't quite right for me.  It was a great quality material, but the thick bottom band and padded cups were not my style. Overall, another great quality outfit from Fabletics!  I seriously recommend it.

@Fabletics - Outfit Review v.4

I look forward to the 1st of every month, when I get to pick out my next Fabletics outfit!  (Please check it out using my referral link!)  This month, I was sitting on outfit credits and some store credit, so all three of my pieces were FREE again.
Since I need black capris, but I also love graphic prints, I chose the Rotunda outfit (graphic tank plus capris) and the awesome-looking Carmo skirt.

I can't believe I've finally found a subscription service I love! Every other one I've tried has ended up a disappointment after the first or second round. 
With these new black capris, I was finally willing to part with an older pair that was becoming threadbare.  The running skirt is fantastic, because I feel like it prevents thigh rub while still allowing for some warm weather shorts.  I think I'll be ordering more of these in the future.

The tank top surprised me.  In my rush to order this fab print, I neglected to see that it was a support top... i.e. it had a built-in bra.  I typically avoid these tops, because the thin double layer of fabric doesn't usually hide my, um, assets.  This top, however, features soft cups.  I haven't run-tested the top yet, but the "hop tests" make me confident enough to wear these to the gym for classes.  I'm keeping all of these items!

@Fabletics - Outfit Review v.3

This month I earned my first FREE Fabletics outfit.  With Fabletics you get points depending on what you buy, points for reviewing items, and HUGE points for referrals that make a purchase. *NEWS* They now have sizes up to XXL!

Needless to say, I was super excited to know that this month's outfit would not be hitting my quarterly Budgeting Blogger kitty.  When March 1st rolled around, I was online first thing in the morning to make my pick.  I actually ended up choosing an outfit that came out after my February picks, the Hook.

I wasn't a huge fan of the tank in its originaly color, but when I saw I could order it in a black/grey version I went for it.  It ended up being a bit too fitted for me.  My tummy is an area that I prefer to hide, and this tank didn't do me any favors.  I'm sending it back for Fabletics credit, which I plan to use for a looser fitting top or maybe another pair of shorts.  This month was a freebie, after all!  I only want to keep items I love.

What really drew me to this outfit were the pants.  I have a couple of pairs of black capris that honestly need to be retired (or tossed).  I wanted black pants, but something a little fun too, and I love the colorful pattern.  There are so many colors, I can wear a tank or top of just about any color to match.  THEY ARE AWESOME and quite possibly one of my new favorite things.  They also make my booty look GOOD!

Overall, I continue to be impressed by Fabletics.  The quality is great, and the only time I've returned/exchanged items has been for style, not really a fit or quality issue at all.  This is the first subscription I've really loved, and I always get excited for my next shipment.

@Fabletics - Outfit Review v.2

So you already know from my previous post that I loved my first Fabletics experience.  Well, I already got my 2nd order (since new outfits come out on the 1st of the month) and I am STILL LOVING IT.  Finally, a subscription service that I can truly get behind every month without a doubt!

This month, I decided not to purchase an "outfit" but to choose two pieces I liked.  The cost was still similar, and my VIP membership yielded free shipping.  SCORE!  I chose the Kingston Sweatshirt in White and the Suki Cycle Shorts in black snakeprint.  I needed another warm layer for my workout wardrobe, and I felt the shorts would be a nice break from capris.  I love the subtle snake print in the leggings I got last month, so I had to get them this time too.

     

I was a little worried the sweatshirt would be too big, as the top I first chose last month didn't fit how I thought it would.  It was definitely a loose fit, but I actually liked it because of the layering factor.  The shorts are great too.  I like the length, surprisingly, as most of my pants are capris. I may have to get another pair of these shorts in another outfit!  I wear the Large (size 10) in all the pieces I have so far, but I like to feel less constricted.  (5'4", 157 lbs)  I think that from now on with the loose, layering tops I will choose the size 8, but stay with 10 in the rest.  My tank top last month in a Large was perfect for the way I like to wear them.

Fabletics customer service did a great job with my exchange last month.  I sent back two out of my three items, and the new pieces were shipped to me within the same week.  Awesome!  (It helps that I'm not too far from their warehouse in Louisville.)  I've already worn all of my new items, and they have held up to my treadmill running workouts.

I did this on a Sunday AM, so forgive the face!

Fabletics

I have been reading up on different subscription services, things like Stitchfix.  I did two rounds with Elizabeth & Clarke, but after a closet overhaul I realized that I don't have much need for those types of tops.

When I saw an ad for Fabletics(<-my referral link, full disclosure), a monthly workout outfit subscription service, I was intrigued.  It is a premium fitness apparel brand developed by Kate Hudson.  I am hoping to get back into running, as I have a goal of running the Disney Marathon in January 2015.  I purged a ton of workout clothes that no longer fit, and I thought Fabletics would be the perfect way to get excited about hitting the gym again.

I got a great deal on my first outfit (50% off) plus I ordered a pair of camo print capri leggings.  $56 for all the pieces.  I received my first outfit not long after.  I was really impressed by the quality of the items!  The camo print capris are my absolute favorite, and I can't wait to wear them.  They are thick but stretchy, and I didn't have to pay Lululemon pricing.

I'm impressed by Fabletics so far.  You get Target-esque prices for more premium offering activewear, which I definitely appreciate.  The pink top felt a bit too big, and the other leggings weren't the length I was expecting, so I contacted Fabletics to return them.  I exchange those pieces for a new outfit, at no cost to me; the leggings even have a snake print accent on the side:

I am legitimately excited about this subscription, because it has already gotten me motivated to train.  I don't think I need to subscribe forever (or I'll need a new closet just for activewear) but this should get me on the right track and feeling great.  You can skip a month or three if you want, you just have to log into your account to do it!  (Note: I'm not counting workout clothes in my Budgeting Bloggers budget yet, because I can't wear them to work and it's for the marathon training.  I might change that in a few months, but we'll see.)

Oh, and here are the new running shoes I just got!  I went to my local Fleet Feet for a custom fitting/consultation and these are where I ended up.  I also got some inserts for my arches that I'm trying out, based on my consultation.
