Gleek Peek: "Funeral"

Oh, Glee.  Just when I've spent the past few weeks ranting about what was wrong with every episode, you did something right.'

***SPOILER ALERT... I am always putting out Glee spoilers!***

1)  Back to basics with the songs.  Singing on the auditorium stage, without a huge production, without autotune and overpowering background music...  perfect.  While I didn't necessarily care for the song choice of those auditioning (except Rachel's Barbra number... I love Funny Girl) , they all showcased the strengths of those singers and I appreciated that.  The BEST song hands-down?  Pure Imagination, from Willy Wonka.  LOVE that movie, and it was at such a poignant time in the show that I CRIED. Yes, I cried.

2)  Sue Sylvester.  She was everything I am used to her being... a complex, interesting character.  Her love for her sister Jean was one of the most beautiful parts of her character.

3)  Back to a good storyline.  Like I said, the gay bullying thing was dominating every episode.  Now, the competition at Nationals, the Finn-Quinn-Rachel saga, and Sue vs. Will all had parts in this episode.  And it WORKED.

Only gripe?  Jesse St. James didn't need to make another appearance after prom, or at least not as big of one.  Sure, he was a catalyst for Finn realizing his true feelings, but the whole consultant bit was stupid and improbable.

Glee Glee Glee...  just when I start to give up on you, you totally redeem yourself!  Only ONE MORE episode left in the season, NATIONALS...  Don't let this Gleek down!!!

[***Merci beaucoup, LD, for surprising me with Volume 2 of Glee Karaoke Revolution!!!  You were the perfect houseguest.  Tu me manqueras!***]
