I used to post the books I've been reading about every 6 months, but I've forgotten to do a post on this since February! Oops... So keep in mind that this is about 10 months worth of reading for me. Because there are so many, I'm not going to give a summary of them all, but if you have any questions please ask me! :) I've put a * next to the ones I recommend you check out.
FICTION:
*Changing Course by Aly Martinez (Okay, note here: I actually know Aly, and if you like romance novels you NEED to check out her books!)
I will admit here that I didn't love the whole book, but I really really loved a few chapters of it. To me, they read like short stories; the chapter on divorce hit so close to home I felt like she wrote it for me.
I feel like it's not as good as Bossypants by Tina Fey or Is Everyone Hanging Out... by Mindy Kaling, but they all fall into the same zone for me as easy to read, enjoyable, but not always consistently good the whole time.
Someone chose the Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. for my book club and I hated it. Stupid man is a dick and learns nothing. The audio version of Yes, Please is AMAZING. Lots of cameo voices, like Seth Meyers and Carole Burnette and Patrick Stewart, for some reason.
I found this book called Snapper by Brian Kimberling and read it right before Christmas -- it's set in South-Central Indiana and a few chapters are in Bloomington! It's an easy read full of fairly disparate, kind of funny, kind of weird stories about a professional bird watcher.
I read "Love Walked In" years ago and really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, it wasn't bad... but it wasn't what I expected! It felt a bit far-fetched, though I liked the overall thought and story.
ReplyDeleteSTILL trying to finish Yes, Please. I'm having such a booger of a time finishing it.
