New TV Review: American Horror Story

You guys, I don't like horror movies.  I get creeped out by even non-gory horror movies like The Skeleton Key and The Sixth Sense.  So WHY IN THE HECK did I choose to start watching American Horror Story?

DescriptionAmerican Horror Story follows the Harmon family: therapist Ben, his wife Vivien, and daughter Violet, who move from Boston to Los Angeles after Vivien gives birth to a stillborn baby and Ben has an affair with one of his students. The family moves to a restored mansion, unaware that the house is haunted. Ben and Vivien try to rekindle their relationship, while Violet suffers from depression.

My Review:  First off, Jessica Lange is brilliant.  She brings the same eccentricity that she did to Grey Gardens, but even creepier.  This entire show is just incredibly CREEPTASTIC.  Entertainment Weekly got it right when it said, "AHS is pretty much all scare, all the time: a whole lotta screams, sex, jolts, mashed faces, psychotic behavior, and dead babies."

And yet I can't stop watching it!  Seriously, am I becoming a horror convert?  I don't think so; it still makes me uneasy at night.  But I want to watch more, find out more about the characters and the house's dark history.

P.S.  I still couldn't believe the brains behind Glee could come up with something so scary and different!

P.P.S.  Thanks BV for recommending the series!
